If you're asking yourself, "What's the point?" you're not alone. Here we are in a social networking site but what can we gain from all this? It's fun to see everyone's photos, and I feel more connected to people here than on a giant social site where my on line safety can be at stake, but what else does this social networking site really offer? Maybe you're thinking this right now...
* I'm too busy to play with this thing...
* I've been doing just fine all these years... I know everything...
* I like spending hours on line catching up with the news that effects me and my business.
* All my competitors are on here, I'm not saying how I succeed.
* Who needs "social networking" anyway?
Well, its time to step into the future...
* The discussion forums allow us to connect around topics that are important and relevent.
* Groups allow us to organize discussion by the type of marine business. This would be a great place to discuss challenges you face with others that may have learned from them in the past.
* The blog entries are questions, concerns or opinions someone wants to voice to the entire member base. Here you will gain insight from all members not just a portion of them.
* The videos and photos are cool, here you can share ideas, instructional or just entertaining pictures and video. This makes the site more fun!
* Being able to message people and leave comments on their pages, posts, and videos is helpful, it allows your comments to be seen by everyone. We also have email which is private.
For me, it's that everything is combined and connected here within a community where all the members share a common interest... The Marine Industry and its survival!. This site connects me to people that share my interests, goal and aspirations. It makes me feel like I'm part of a community. It helps me get answers to questions from those who might be able to help and allows me to share my experience with others. It also provides a space to stay connected with friends in the business and make new ones.
If you're wondering what to do now that you're a member of this network, I suggest visiting the
Get Started section.
Please let us know if you have thoughts about how to improve marineindustry.org.
Thanks,
Jim Sabia
