I recently was at an excellent workshop and a great point was made: "there is THE economy and there is YOUR economy" I believe if you do not make this distinction, the two will become one in the same. What can be done to differentiate YOUR…

I'm interested in hearing more on this. While I have my own thoughts on this, feedback is dependent on whose on the call. I'm hesitant to discuss specifics re the company without knowing the details of those online. Also, regarding my last exchange with you regarding compensation, I have put a lot of time and energy in trying to understand the dynamics of flat-rate, commission, bonus, etc. It really comes down to the type of individual(s) in the shop. I believe we are going to move ahead with a base wage and 2x incentive for billable hours. If your interested in more let me know. I'd also like to know if you have relationships with other dealer principles whom would be willing to have a conversation with me on this.

Valerie, I am one of the principals of Shamrock Marine in Pasadena MD. I was on one of the recent calls where techs started asking questions regarding tech rates. I commend you on negotiating away from that topic. I, however, am very interested. I've read some of past discussions on this site regarding flat rate systems, but would like to learn more. I suppose I could contact each of the participants from the last discussion to get their feedback. Or re-open the discussion and ask additional questions. Your thoughts?
thanks
Mike
