The weekly 30-minute show has drawn a strong core group of dedicated listeners. "I love it when someone tells me that they are a listener," says Walsh. "And it's even better when they give us some feedback, whether we're talking about sound quality or subject matter."
To grow the listener base and give the show more exposure, Professional BoatBuilder magazine will begin publishing summaries of all new shows as part of its online presence.
"Starting with the 100th show, we'll have a closer connection with www.ProBoat.com ," says Walsh. "We already offer a weekly update for new shows there, but ProBoat readers have asked for an easy way to read about past shows and listen to the recordings.
"This will also be an opportunity to target some shows for more development as full-fledged articles for the magazine," she adds. "Now that some of our archived shows have had 1,000 or more downloads, we know what the hot topics are for our audience."
Because ProBoat Radio is a web-based show, there are several options for tuning in. Listeners can go to www.ProBoatRadio.com or call 347-637-2307 to listen in to the live broadcast on the phone. They can also go to the iTunes store and subscribe to the podcast, or go to the show's website to listen to any past shows.
Yet another option is to visit the mobile website for the recordings: m.blogtalkradio.com/proboatradio.
"We built the show's webpages to be complete accessible via mobile phone," says Walsh. "Visitors have the option of selecting either the mobile view or the desktop view when they browse us by phone."
Another feature is the option to become a member of ProBoat Radio. "People who register as members can leave comments, including text, audio, and video," says Walsh. "Our hope is that we will build a community there as more people become interested in this format and want to participate."
