Say "NO" to YACHT WORLD Fee Increase !

In case you have not received you recent notice from Yacht World, it seems that for those of us that are still with them they want to increase the "member rates" by $30 per month. They may have lost hundreds of accounts in the past 24 months so they want to make up the fees from those of us that remain with them .There is no need to belabor how the industry has fared in the past 2 years. Not only has the industry shrunk but we are in a deflationary time, so they cannot even justify a "cost of living increase".
The reasons they are giving is "new technology", "increased site traffic" ,'the addition mobile versions of the US and UK sites" and "optimization for mobile devices". They are also touting the photo up loader, printing, spell check, unlimited photos and videos.

Now 2 years ago when they raised the fees, they also touted the videos, which is an already additional charged service and unlimited photos. Now they are going to charge us again for the same service.

There is increased traffic as we are offering more vessels for sale as many owners are experiencing economic difficulties and the luxury of a boat may no longer be affordable. We have created the traffic due to more vessels for sale. I question if anything they have done created more traffic. The "Spell check" that they offer is standard on all of our browsers and the videos can be put on YouTube and transferred over at no cost. OEM Specs are readily available on most manufacturers web sites. Why should those of us pay for UK sites? That may be important on the east coast but not so much here in California. That may be indicative of the fact that they can no longer deliver buyers from the US so they seek markets thousands of miles out of our areas.

As far as mobile devices, is that user our client? How viewable is our product on a 1/2 inch screen? One last item, how do you like your ads competing with the Manufacturers? Yes, you pay for the ad, but you are competing with a prospects attention on the page due to the banner ads, so your ad is driving traffic to the banners then YW charges you more because you create their traffic.

There are too many good FREE services and Yacht World is getting too greedy.

For those of us that are paying the bills, Please contact the representatives (1-877-336-9527 ext 1) and e-mail Ian Atkins ian.atkins@Yachtworld.com and just say "NO", and even demand a roll back of 15% in fees.
